OUGD403 - Alphabet Soup: Typeface



This brief is going to be interesting...



To begin with, we were given a student on our course to be our partner for the brief, I was given Andy which I was quite happy with as I hadn't really spoken to him before.

We were given a sheet each to fill in about each other and these were what were written:

What is your favourite colour?
Green

What is your earliest memory?
Pushing little brother into a rose bush.

Which living designer do you most admire, and why?
John Burgerman - Because of the style of drawing and his whole attitude towards his work.

What is your most treasured possession?
Grandad's Guitar

What would your super power be?
Read Minds

Which piece of graphic design do you wish you had created?
The Nike Tick

Who would play you in the film of your life?
THOR - for the lols

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Zooey Deschanel

What makes you unhappy?
Lack of sleep + 'Lads'

What would be your fancy dress costume of choice?
A Hobbit

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"No Idea"

We were then handed out our next brief relating to the personalised exercise we just acted out.

To design a typeface for a full alphabet and glyphs that represent the personality/character of our partner. 

We read the brief and after a lot of thought we decided to carry on chatting until it was time to go so we could put out any ideas we had or any problems whatsoever.

Other facts about Andy are these:

- Favourite colour is green.
- He plays guitar
- Clueless
- Smart Casual
- Messy but smart appearance.
-Interested in music.
- Music tastes are varied ( relaxed/chilled/metal/dubstep/reggae)
- Speciality is digital manipulation.
- Mentally organised
- Florida is his favourite place (because of weather, atmosphere and experiences)
- His favourite traditional medium is pencil.
- His favourite drink is Southern Comfort.
